The Marassi Marina in Egypt: an ongoing CORE-LOC™ project
CLI provides its technical expertise and assistance to HOMAN Group as well as the appropriate technical assistance in accordance with the CORE-LOC™ technology.
Construction of the structure will involve the fabrication and placement of 10 200 CORE-LOC™ units.
Construction works include:
- Construction of the main breakwater protected with 1 m3 CORE-LOC™ units:
Breakwater length: 920 m. - Construction of a second breakwater protected with 1 m3 CORE-LOC™ units:
Breakwater length: 240 m.
The CORE-LOC™ armour unit was developed and patented in the mid-1990s by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory. It is now widely considered for breakwater projects requiring reliable and cost effective protections. This armour unit is ideally suited to sites exposed to moderate waves.
Back in 1997, USACE (inventor of the CORE-LOC™ technology) entrusted CLI with the distribution of this technology and the ability to provide the technical assistance for the CORE-LOC™ unit in large parts of the world including Egypt.
