North Nurai Island project – UAE
The UAE presidential court has launched the construction project of the offshore island of North Nurai. This island project includes a 3 km long offshore breakwater. The armour of the structure is protected by ACCROPODE™ I blocks of 2.5 m3.

Special features of the project
CLI provided technical assistance and delivered a Compliance Certificate for the installation of the ACCROPODE™ I blocks on the structure.
The monitoring and verification of the installation is done using a 3D model of the armour made on the basis of Bathymetric and Photogrammetric surveys during the progress of the construction.

Length of the breakwater protected with ACCROPODE™ I blocks : 3.5 km
Max. seabed depth (toe): -9 m
Top of the crest: +0.5 m
Construction aspect
The breakwater was built from an offshore barge. 18 006 ACCROPODE™ I units of 2.5 m3 were placed using excavators on which Echoscope™ visualization system tools are installed.
