Palmeira Port Expansion and Modernization - Phase II, Sal Island - Cape Verde
This project was carried out by MOTA-ENGIL for the MINISTRERIO DAS INFRAESTRUTURAS E ECONOMIA MARITIMA – ENAPOR. The project started in 2015. It consisted in the construction of a new 330m-long breakwater, protected with an ACCROPODE™ II armour layer.
CLI provided a tailor-made assistance offering its remote and onsite services, with technical site visits for training and advising the contractor during the casting and placing phases.
Special features of the project
A crane was used to place the units above the sea level. Divers guaranteed the correct position of units under the sea level. An excavator allowed the good placement of units on the flat crest berm.

- Cumulated length of the ACCROPODE™ II armour: 330 m
- Max. seabed depth (toe): -18 m
- Top of the crest: +1 1m
Construction aspect
- Total length of the ACCROPODE™ II units protection: 330 m
- 4m3, 6m3 and 10m3 ACCROPODE™ II units : 12 500 m³
