Algeria - Extension of protecting structures and construction of an LNG carrier jetty for the SKIKDA oil terminal
10,500 ACCROPODE™ units
The China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) has been selected by the Sonatrach group to carry out the works to extend Skikda oil terminal in Algeria.
CHEC will perform the design studies and laboratory tests and build the maritime and port facilities, including a jetty for loading large-capacity LNG carriers.
The works include extending the main port breakwater over a distance of 500 metres along which the water depths vary between -17.0 m and -19.0 m. The construction of a new secondary breakwater 800 m in length with a maximum depth of -13.5 m will round off the works on the structures protecting the port.
Because the structures are highly exposed to wave attack, these two breakwaters will be protected with armour facings consisting of nearly 10,500 ACCROPODE™ units with volumes of 3 m3, 10 m3, 16 m3 and 20 m3.
CLI , supplier of the ACCROPODE™ technology, has been appointed by the China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) to train its teams in the framework of the usual technical assistance included in an ACCROPODE™ sublicensing agreement.
