Expansion of Sal-Rei Harbour in Boa vista island
The ministry of infrastructure, transport and communication of Cape Verde has awarded the contract to the contractor for the expansion of SAL REI harbour in Boa Vista Island.
The structure suffered several storms during its construction phase with the consequences of the damage areas unprotected. The already protected areas have not suffered damage ; despite these findings, the design has been redesigned because the observed intensity of storms was significantly higher than the events for which they were designed.
In this project, CLI was involved as the ACCROPODE™ technology provider and provided technical assistance with placing drawings, advice on best practices, and onsite technical assistance.
Special features of the project
The new design has planned the implementation of cubic blocks and the placement of a specific concrete block at the foot designed by the contractor. Subsequently other storms have caused new damage on cubic blocks and foot. However very little damage has been identified on ACCROPODE™ units, showing good resilience in the face of major storms..
