ACCROPODE™ II offshore breakwater located at 8km off the coast of Udangudi providing protection for a coal unloading jetty.
CLI developed a great understanding of the Contractor’s needs and applied a problem-solving mindset to this specific project.
Special features of the project
The execution of a 915 meters-long breakwater located 8 km off the coast of Udangudi.
The blocks were manufactured on land and transported offshore by a barge during construction. The breakwater was built from land and sea.
Hydraulic conditions
- Total protection length with ACCROPODE™ II armour units: 915 m
- Max. seabed depth (toe): -9.66m
- Top of the crest: +7.60m
Construction Aspect
The breakwater was constructed using truss cranes from the sea for blocks underwater and from the land for blocks out of the water
- ACCROPODE™ II blocks size : 4m3
- 6000 blocks manufactured in total
- The correct fitting of the ACCROPODE™ II units is made using the positioning system POSIBLOC and with the assistance of divers
- Blocks were manufactured from land and brought to site by barge.
