The Municipality of Malfa has appointed SIGMA INGEGNERIA as Designer. The consortium STABILE INFRATECH, STONE SOCIETA' COOPERATIVA, FRANCO GIUSEPPE and ZETA is appointed to the construction of a marina breakwater in Malfa, a municipality on the island of Salina in the Aeolian Islands archipelago of Sicily, Italy.
CLI developed a great understanding of the Contractor’s need and applied a problems solving mindset to this specific project.
Special features of the project
The project consists in the placement of 300 ACCROPODE™ I blocks of
16 m3 (40 tonnes) on a breakwater of approximately 150 metres. The new harbour will be able to accommodate more boats to boost tourism and thus improve access to the island.
- The size of the 16 m3 blocks that are more than 3.60m high
- The Compliance Certificate for the conformity of the ACCROPODE™ I armour
Hydraulic conditions
- Length of the breakwater: 150 m
- Max. seabed depth (toe): -9 m MSL
- Top of the crest: +6,60 m MSL
Construction Aspect
The placement of the ACCROPODE™ I blocks was carried out with a crane from a barge.
