CABO VERDE – Upgrading of Porto Inglès
The Porto Inglès construction project on Cabo Verde Maio Island involves the construction of an off shore breakwater. ACCROPODE™ II blocks will be manufactured and placed on both roundheads. The number of blocks required for the construction of the PROJECT has been estimated at 650 units of 6m3 size, for an estimated concrete quantity of 3 900m3.

Special features of the project
The modernization of the Porto Inglès on the island of Maio, includes the construction of a 250 meters-long off-shore breakwater. The orientation of the structure was designed to protect the ships in the berthing phase on the nearby dock.
ACCROPODE™ II blocks of size 6m3 are placed on the two breakwater roundheads.
Hydraulic conditions
- Off-shore breakwater protected with ACCROPODE™ II blocks : 250 m
- Max. seabed depth (toe): -8 m
- Top of the crest: +4.6 m
Construction Aspect
Breakwaters were built from land. 650 ACCROPODE™ II units of 6 m3 were placed using cranes.
